Murray McDavid, a prominent Scotch whisky company, was founded in 1996 by Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin, and Gordon Wright, with Gordon's prior experience at Springbank Distillery. In 2000, the company acquired the dormant Bruichladdich distillery, resurrecting its production. In 2012, Rémy Cointreau UK Limited acquired Murray McDavid, including Bruichladdich Distillery, but later sold the non-Bruichladdich part of Murray McDavid to Aceo Limited.
The focus of Murray McDavid is on the ACE (Additional Cask Enhancement) process, maturing whisky in various casks, including wine and spirit casks, to create unique flavor profiles. They also utilize first-fill ex-bourbon casks from Koval Distillery. Established as an innovative whisky bottler, Murray McDavid has a history of crafting inspired Scotch Whisky. They currently operate from Coleburn Distillery in Speyside, continuing their tradition of artfully matured Scotch whisky.
